Q) How did you get into 3D?
Decades ago, I had started an online community for artists and designers called The Pixies of the Glade. We were a close group of art lovers who just loved to create, and I taught alot of techniques and design to the group. At that time, there was a huge concern of copyright material etc and because of this group I looked into Poser, started playing around with it as a possible outlet for the group where they could create art and not have to get permission from every artist for whatever they liked to make, be it stationary, tags, etc. Not one of the community had any copyright issues, but it was such a huge concern that I searched out alternatives and here I am, I fell in love with 3D.
Q) How did you choose your nickname?
I am Native American. At 10 I was neamed by a Shaman "Silver Fox" aka "Dehluneguh Tsula" (Cherokee). When I got online oh so many years ago, Silver Fox was taken, so I spent some thought on a handle for myself, and since to this day I embody my name in personality, I came oup with Spirit of the Fox, and shortened it to Spiritfoxy. After so many years, I am still known by my handle Spiritfoxy, and I doubt anyone would let me change it now! I tried once, it did not go over very well.
Q) How long have you been creating Products?
Approximately 20 years, back in the days of Poser Pros & Daz.
Q) what are the specs of your render machine/s?
1:
ASUS G10AC Series PC | Intel i-7 - 4770 CPU @ 3.40 Ghz | 32 Gb RAM | 64-bit | Nvidia GTX 760 (192-bit)
2:
HP Pavillion | AMD A-10-5750M APU @ 2.50 Ghz | 8 Gb RAM | 64-bit | Radeon HD
Q)Poser or Daz Studio and why?
Both. I have been using Poser since before version 4, so I am very well versed in the use of Poser, and very comfortable creating for it as well. I have had a love/hate relationship with Daz Studio since its inception, and over the years most times it would not run on my computer. Until Daz Studio 4+. I have fallen in love with Daz Studio in the past year+, and now I prefer creating for it more than Poser. It is an absolutely wonderful program at this point, and has quickly become very mainstream in its setup, making it easy to work in DS and ZBrush, Modo, Substance Painter, Photoshop, etc. With the addition of Iray, it is right up there with your gaming and movie houses, being used in some of the most popular movies of our current time, and I see it just getting better as they perfect it.
Q) what is your favorite work you’ve created?
My favorite piece is an artwork I created for my character "Animus: The Raven for V4"
Animus: The Raven ~~~
I am a black bird, a Raven, I am Raven.
I know & I am knowing — I know and see life & death, expansion & contraction and I do not shiver and cry — I am unafraid.
I am Raven. I am black as liquid night with wings and my eyes are stars to see by.
The light within me leads the way and it is revealed through my eyes and I am what lies between the dark & light.
I am the balance between.
~~ H. Raven Rose, "Liquid Me: A Collection of Poetry and Prose"
Q) Tell us about Ffionna For V4
I love freckles! And Ffionna has very real freckles, just loaded, the kind you see on a young, Celtic beauty. Ffionna took me months to create, she was a true labor of love and one of my absolute favorites. I love her so much, I spent time updating her to a G2F, and released her version at RDNA last year - Felicity for G2F - and she became my favorite to date. Now, I am slowly working on a G3F version of Ffionna's skin, to be released in the very near future. Ffionna for V4 will always hold a special place in my heart, she is truly an exceptional character to create art with no matter what the genre.
Q) What were the favorite things you made during your RDNA days?
Everything!!!!! Ah well, you want me to pick favorites, hmmm...... My characters!
Q) Is there anything you’ve made that you wish you didn’t? why?
Not that I can think of, I really do not create for anything that I dislike, I just would not work on it. Life is too short & precious to waste time on things that do not make one happy.
Q) What is your favorite ‘style’ or theme to create?
Fantasy, hands down! The Queen of the Elves & Fairies, there is a reason I started with the business name of FaeDesigns by Spiritfoxy and still use it to this day. I am hooked if it has anything to do with the Realm of Fantasy.
Q) What were the favorite things you made during your RDNA days?
Every product I make, I put my heart and soul into, so each and every one has a very special place in my heart. As for my favorites, I would have to say the characters, they all have a little bit of me in them, both literally & figuratively.
Q)) Out of all the various art mediums why 3D?
The sign of the times, I am a Traditional Artist & a professional Graphic Designer since the tender age of 10, so it has been a slow, natural progression over the years. 3D work was easier for me to wrap my mind around since I minored in Architectural Drafting & Design in High School & College, so spatial is hard wired into my brain. Add to it my love of sculpting with clay, the modelling and sculpting in Z-Brush came naturally to me.
Q) Tell us about Isabella For V4
Ahhh, my latin beauty, she has spice, is so very sassy, a very strong character to liven up your renders! Definitely not for the weak of heart, you can get lost in her eyes ~~~ <3
Q) What are your plans for the future?
To continue creating what I love. I am now modeling clothing etc once again, it has been a very long time since I have done any models being so swamped with characters & texturework over the years, and I have always loved to model, so I have picked it up once again and am enjoying immensely the process as I fine tune my rusty skills. So look forward to seeing from me all kinds of wonderful creations, from characters to textures to models!
Q) who are your favorite artists other than yourself?
Oh my, so many over the years! Stonemason, Sveva & Fabiana to name a few of my absolute faves.
Q) If someone reading this wants to start creating their own artwork or products what words of advice would you give them?
Do not be discouraged, it takes time to develop your skills, alot of hard work and time. It also takes time to develop a name for yourself! So, be patient, keep at it, try to learn something new all of the time and stretch yourself beyond your capabilities to hone your skills, the journey is just as important if not more so, so enjoy your journey no matter what.
Q) Do you have a job outside of 3D or do you consider this your full time occupation?
No, this is my full time occupation, hopefully for a long time to come :)
Q) Speech time! any final words you have for your, fans and fellow 3D community?
I have always been the quiet one in the background over all these years, and I am known to not say too much unless spoken to... But after so many years, I have made so many close and dear friends in this community that life would just not be the same without all of you! I would hope that my fans and the community would feel comfortable conversing with me, I love to make new friends, so don't be shy, my door is always open. Feel free to share :) And Thank You, from the very bottom of my heart, for such a wonderful 20 years, for supporting me, for bringing my creations to life through your art, I am always humbled by all of the beautiful art that is created with my work.
