Photo Studio 01 ************************************************************ --Product Name: Photo Studio 01 Daz 4.8 --Copyright September, 2015 --By: Rumen Delchev aka RumenD ************************************************************ Introduction. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The product contains a finished scene ready for rendering which recreates the lighting from a professional photo studio with 3 point lighting. The lights are properly adjusted to the position of the camera. The scene has a properly unwrapped background which can be mapped with any image. The scene also contains 3 camera presets and full 3d environment.Scene is ready to render in 3Delight engine. The lights are as follows: 1. Ambient Occlusion 2. Main Light 3. Fill Light 4. Back Light 5. Bottom Lights The cameras are: 1. Full Body 2. Half Body 3. Portrait All of the scene's components are connected to each other, so this product is not suitable for importing to other scenes. The purpose of this product is to import your model to the scene and create some good photos with professional lighting. All of the lights are adjustable. Usage. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LIGHTS: 1. Ambient Occlusion - This is the background light which is reflected from the walls of the room. The settings are saved in Render Settings and can be changed from there. 2. Main Light - This is a group of 9 spot lights which are positioned in a 120x120 cm square. The side lights are parented to the central light and the central light is parented to "Main light target". To adjust the distance between the actor and lights you have to move the central light by the Z axis. To change the angle of the light to the actor you have to rotate "Main light target". If you move "Main light target" this will move all of the lights as well. The lights can also be rotated by rotating the central light. The lights are adjusted to produce a soft light with soft shadows. If you want deeper shadows you can turn off some of the side lights, or you can move the lights closer to the central light. Of course, this will change the intensity of the light. The intensity of each spot light can be changed from the Lights panel. Another way to adjust the shadows is to change the shadows softness or intensity from the Lights panel. The four angle lights are slightly tilted to the center. The aim is to get a more homogeneous light spot. 3. Fill Light - This is a group of 4 lights which give a soft light on dark side of the actor. Their usage is the same as the Main Light group. 4. Back Light - This is a group of 4 lights which illuminates the back side of the bright half of the actor. Their usage is the same as the Main Light group. 5. Bottom Lights - This is a group of 4 distant lights which simulate the reflected light off the ground. These lights do not produce shadows and their position is not important, only their direction. By default these lights emit a red light, since the background of the scene is red. If you are using other colors or pictures, the color of the bottom lights should be adjusted to the background. CAMERAS: In the scene there are 3 cameras which are position for full body, half body and portrait pictures. It is not recommended to move the cameras left or right, because all of the lights are adjusted to the position of the cameras. To get a nice shot you should move the actor and not the camera (in real photo studios the cameras are on stands and are not moved). The cameras are position horizontally, this generates a simple central perspective to which people are used to. You can move the cameras closer or farther from the actor, but it is not recommended to rotate them. If you want to see the actor from a different angle you should just rotate the actor. The height of the cameras can aslo be changed (by moving them by the Y axis) to achieve a better shot. Portrait Camera The portrait camera uses depth of field. This requires more render time, especially for hair. If you want to you can turn off this option from the Cameras panel. After the shot has been composed and the actors and camera are positioned properly, the focal distance should be adjusted. To do this you should turn on Right or Left view and Wireframe in the viewport. The exact position of the camera focus can be seen in the viewport. Moving the Focal Distance slider moves the DOF Plane. If you adjust the DOF Plane of the top of the model's nose this will generate a slight blur of the models face, but the eyes turn out a bit washed out. The classical setting is on the cheeks, if you want to focus on the eyes you should put the DOF plane on the eyes. Some recommendations for portrait pictures: 1. It is good to have the tip of the nose on the center of the shot, or on the vertical symmetry axis of the shot. 2. The eyes of the models which come by default with the program require a bit of adjustments. The EyeMoisture comes with a integrated shine. It is recommended to turn off this shine because it doesn't correspond to the ligthing of the scene. The EyeMoisture material should be set to reflect the real lights of the scene. 3. The Sclera comes with a clear white diffusion color, which creates too much light. It is recommended the diffusion color to be changed to a bright pink. This changes the overall colorization of the sclera while keeping the details of the texture. This is general advice, you should do some tests to get a result you like. In the end: A scene with 21 lights and camera depth of field requires a lot more render time than a shot wihtout lights with just the camera flash, but the result is very different as well. Of course this is not a physically based engine and there are no emitions of photons and caustics so the render time is still shorter when compared to Iray. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TECHNICAL SUPPORT : Tested in Daz Studio.
