************************************************************ *Product Name: Dungeon Cell-Kit Expansion *Copyright 12th November 2010 *By: Andrus63 *Contact: [email removed] ************************************************************ The set is designed to complement the main Dungeon Cell-Kit. It contains some more structural elements, including a grill wall and extra pieces to build a better dungeon, props to give the chamber more colour, and shackles and chains to prevent the inmates escaping. -------------------------------------- System Requirements: PC and Mac compatible Poser 6+ Daz Studio -------------------------------------- Ownership Statement: All of this product's content was created by Andrus63 -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: To install, open the zip file. Drop the "runtime” folder into your Poser or Daz Studio directory, and the files should install in their proper places. You can find the contents of this product under: Libraries/props/Andrus63/Cellkit/cellExpansion Libraries/props/Andrus63/Cellkit/cellExpansion/OpeningShackles and Libraries/characters/Andrus63/Cellkit and Libraries/pose/Andrus63/CellExpansion. If you already have the Dungeon Cell-Kit then you may get warnings during installation about over-writing files. This is because there are duplicate files to ensure that both sets can operate independently. Simply allow the files to overwrite and both sets will work fine. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: Positioning the shackles. The collar and bands each consist of two parented props. The base or back (for the collar) is smart-propped to the figure. Please note that if you resave a version of these (say scaled for a character) Poser will not save two parented props together as a smart prop. It is likely that for many poses you will need to move the collar/wrist bands/anklebands. The bands are repositioned automatically as part of the included poses (the same effect that makes some poses move prop-based hair – this time used to advantage!) To move them for your own poses select the base for the bands or back for the collar. The much neglected “direct manipulation tool” can be very useful for positioning the bands. Try it! Posing chains. Posing chains is fiddly. The included chains are simple, with no IK or EP. We find that this is as good an option as any, especially for relatively short chains. We have left in the translation dials for the individual links. Although for many figures this would be undesirable, for a chain it can be useful to move them by a small amount, and simulates how the links could actually move. You will have to use the dials to translate them, as grabbing them in the preview window will always rotate them. Generally we find it better to pose the figure first, then pose the chain to fit, starting at Link a, and working along, while still being prepared to repose the figure slightly if need be, or move the band or collar. Remember you can always make individual links invisible for in-between length chains. Finally a single link is included as a prop for added flexibility. There may be occasions when the simplest solution is to construct part of a chain from parented props rather than use a figure. For the included poses give the “body” of the figure and chain(s) the same position and rotation. Load the necessary bands (make sure you have the figure, not the clothing, selected when you load these, as otherwise the poses will not move the bands into the correct position), then apply the poses to figure and chain. Finally parent the chains to convenient props (band base) if you wish to reposition the figure in the scene. The poses are designed to work with the DAZ 3D figures Michael 4 and Victoria 4; they do work with other figures, but will require adjustment. We always advise that you turn inverse kinematics and limits off, as otherwise poses will not all work. Use “body” (not “Hip”) to move figures around the scene. Keep the parameters identical for the different figures, and the groups will stay together. The brazier comes in complete with glowing coals and a poker, both separate props that can be moved or removed as desired. A point-light inside the brazier can produce great lighting effects – the coals do not cast shadows, so the light works well. The promo images show this very effectively. Again, the flame on the wall lamp also does not cast shadows, so a point light can be put within the flame to illuminate the scene. The flame is a separate prop and can be twisted to give the best view of the flame to suit the camera angle. The stool in this set has a different texture to the one in the main cellkit, so you can use two stools in one scene without them looking strangely similar. The slab and wooden beam are both very simple props – little more than textured primitives, but we found them useful as scene elements when we experimented with the set. The textures are simple enough that you can scale or distort the props to some degree without the textures suffering serious distortion. One of the included PZ3s uses the slab in differing scales as an example. The dice may seem a strange addition to a cell set, but they are there for the guards to gamble with whilst the heroes escape! Both dice load from the pp2, but are separate props so you can move them independently. We have not hidden dials or set limits. We find it irritating and annoying when dials are hidden – most 3D artists use a degree of imagination when constructing sets and scenes, and having those dials enables creative use of the props. If you want a door to be ripped off its hinges, or a chain ripped in two, you can! The textures are optimised for Poser; the set has also been tested in and works in Daz Studio, but textures may need to be tweaked slightly. The pz3s are sets, like a film or TV studio, not complete chambers. There are walls missing to make it easier to locate cameras and lights. If you want complete chambers, it is easy to load an extra wall or element as you desire. The wall texture is created from photographs we took of the walls of Richmond Castle in north-west England.
