Thank you for purchasing the Frontier Station from the CGbytes product line. To unzip the files, please use a program such as winzip from winzip.com for the PC. For the MAC, the latest version of Stuffit from stuffit.com will work with both the MAC and PC. With your zip extraction utility, please extract the files (with the "use folder names" option checked) to your Poser program location, up to, but not including "runtime". The file will then be extracted to your hard drive under the standard "runtime" heirarchy. The following library will be created in your Poser libraries: Figures / Frontier Station All elements of the Station will be in the above folder. For your convenience, some pre-assembled modules in varying stages have been provided. You can add modules to one another and parent them together. "SS Assem Full" is a fully parented station with all modules included and pre-parented. SS MODULE 1: This is meant to be the top of the station, a circular room with panoramic windows. An opening in the floor has 2 sliding doors to provide access to any module placed below it. Each window can be turned off for better camera views. SS MODULE 2: This module is a large circular room that can accomodate 2 floors (SS Mod2 Floor) to divide it into more than 1 level. There are 4 windows and 4 window shields (hidden in the wall just below each window) that can be moved up over the windows. The module is divided into 4 quarters that can be hidden for better camera views. The roof and floor have sliding doors that open to modules that you place above and below this module. SS MODULE 3: This Module is meant to be a juction module that 4 door modules (SS Door 1) can be inserted and serve as access to the outer ring. A floor (SS Mod3 Floor) can be inserted to divide this module into separate levels. The module is divided into 4 quarters that can be hidden for better camera views. The roof and floor have sliding doors that open to modules that you place above and below this module. SS MODULE 4: This Module is an outer ring docking junction with 4 door openings with covers. When covers are removed you can insert a functional door (SS Door 1) to allow exterior access. All walls, floor and ceiling can be hidden for better camera views. This module's center of rotation is the center of the SS 1-3 modules so it can be easily rotated around the station. If you wish to change the center of rotation, use the joint editor to move the floor'(s) center axis. SS RINGSEG 1: This is an outer ring segment, it's center of rotation is the center of the SS 1-3 modules. If you wish to change the center of rotation, use the joint editor to move the center of rotation. SS PLATFORM: This platform is a large central ring that fits around the narrower ends of the SS 1-3 modules, it is intended to be the base for the SS Assem 1 platform. Parent the SS Assem 1 arm to the platform. SS Assem 1: This is an arm and platform assembly that can be attached to the station or SS Platform module. You can use this as a landing/parking platform or put antenna arrays and equipment on it. SS Corridor 1: This is a corridor module that you can place end to end and connect from SS Module 3 to the outer ring. It has shields over the windows which are turned 'off' in the default setting, if you want to cover the windows, use the heirarchy editor to find the corridor and turn the shields to visible. SS Door 1: This is a door with surround walls. The door can be moved in all directions. SS Door 2: This is a circular door wall with 4 doors and 4 windows. It is intended to be used in SS Module 2 and 3 in conjunction with the SS Mod2 and SS Mod3 floors, as well as with the SS Module 2 Wall. SS Module 2 Wall: This wall figure is designed to work in Module 2. It has an upper and lower wall, both of which can be rotated or made hidden. It works as a divider, use it as you see fit. SS Mod2 and Mod 3 Floor: These floors are divided into 4 quarters and can double as ceilings as well. Use each one in conjunction with Module 2 and Module 3. SS Lev Pad: This is a levetation platform that takes personel from one level of the station to the other. It is centrally located to the station. SS Spires 1 - 3: These can serve as antennas/communication spires. Place them where you wish, parent them to the figure you place them on. SS Tanks 1 - 3: These serve as storage/fuel/air tanks. Tank 2 has an exhaust port on the bottom and can be used as a booster. Nullbase: This is a simple red diamond shaped figure and when rendered, this diamond will dissappear. The purpose of the nullbase is to serve as a base figure to parent other figures in your scene. If you set up a scene with furniture and equipment, you can parent them to the nullbase figure. When the nullbase is moved, all the furniture and equipment will move with it. You can save the nullbase with it's parented objects to the figures library for future use. The nullbase is centrally located to the center of the station. If you rotate the nullbase, everything parented to it will rotate about the center of the station. Tips for good renders: Most of the modules in this package, particularly the SS modules 1-3, door and corridor modules have shadow casting turned off. This will allow light to pass through them without casting a shadow. In general, you should leave the shadow casting ability turned on for props and people, this will help an image look less flat. By default, Poser inserts 3 lights in a scene. Turn off the shadow casting ability on 2 of the lights and leave the shadow casting ability on for 1 of them. This will help make a render look less saturated with shadows. Point a light up from the floor toward the ceiling and 1 from the ceiling toward the floor, then have the 3rd light pointing from behind the camera toward the central part of your render. If you find strange shadows on the walls, you may want to turn the shadow casting ability off on the element that is casting the shadow.
