Thank you for puchasing the TENTACLE KIT "Tentacle Pack 1". SPECIAL NOTE: This package uses bump maps and displacement maps. It is recommended that you use the Firefly Render Engine in Poser 5 and above. This package should work in DazStudio, however, you might need to adjust some material settings to work properly in DazStudio. Known Issues with DazStudio: Ambient lit material zones (glow in the dark stuff) will need to be adjusted. Bump and displacement maps may need to be adjusted. To extract the contents of this zip file, use a zip extraction program such as winzip. -Make sure the "use folder names" option is checked. -Extract to the location of your poser*.exe file For example, if you have Curious Lab's Poser 5, you would extract the files to: C:/program files/curious labs/Poser 5 -Do not include the folder "runtime" in your extraction path, this is already included in the zip files path location Once installed the library content will be installed to the following folders: Character/Figure Library: TENTACLE KIT / TENTACLES / BEND FROM TIP or BEND FROM TAIL Materials Library: TENTACLE KIT / BUMP MAP or DISPLACE MAP The TENTACLE KIT is comprised of 3 different packages. Tentacle Pack 2 contains 5 unique tentacles featuring an easypose version or standard bending version. There is a Tentacle Pack 2 and "Core Pack" also available, sold separately. There are 2 libraries: BEND FROM TIP and BEND FROM TAIL. These allow the tentacles to be either be posed from the tip of the tentacle to the base or end of the tentacle, or reversed, from tail to tip. This is to allow the user to decide which method is easier for them. Tentacle Pack 2 Note: EZP = EasyPose version Easypose dails will allow you to bend, twist and manipulate all the segments of your tentacle at once. It will allow allow you to X, Y and Z scale your segments all at once. Note: If you wish to make your tentacle smaller or larger, you can also select the "Body" button on the parameter dials dialog box and use the "scale" dial to make it overall larger or smaller. Tentacle F: This tentacle has an open and close morph on the tip of the tentacle. Tentacles G and H: Standard tentacles, G has a cool tip that is kind of knobby. Tentacle J: This tentacle has a morphing foreskin with open and close morphs. There is another tip, or probe, inside the foreskin. This tip can act as a "penis" or probe, however you wish. The probe also has some bending morphs and move in-out ability. Tentacle K: This tentacle has cool suckers on the underside of the tentacle, like an octopus. The suckers are on a separate material zone. Materials and textures: SPECIAL NOTE: The Firefly Render Engine in Poser 5 and above is recommended for propper useage of the bump and displacement maps. When using the firefly render engine, set the min. displacement bounds setting to .2 or higher. If you start to see black gaps in the surface of any of the elements of this package, either raise the displacement bounds setting higher (in the render settings options), or set the displacement amount lower in the materials editor for that material zone. This package has 2 material libraries, one is the bump map version, one is the displacement map version. If you are a novice, using the bump map version will probably work for you in most situations. There are 25 preset materials in the Materials Library called Tentacle Kit. You can use these textures for your Tentacle Kit items or you can use them on anything else you want. The textures are seamless tiling and have a matching bump/displacement map. Using a bump map or displacement map is up to you. In some instances, a mesh of a figure might start to show seams or cracks when using a displacement map, a bump map version will fix this. You can adjust the size of the texture and amount of bump/displacement in the materials editor. If you want to use your own textures and bump/displacement maps, you can use of the presets as a guide, simply swap out the source of the texture and bump map to another image. I hope you enjoy using the TENTACLE KIT. Be sure to also pick up the Tentacle Pack 1 and the "Core Pack" Cheers, Davo questions: [email removed]
